MSFF Committees

Did you know: studentsWant to get more involved with your local union? The MSU Denver Faculty Federation has several working committees seeking your involvement. In solidarity, we are all stronger.

Steering Committee
By election only, this committee has been filled for the current year. The Steering Committee meets monthly, with additional meetings as needed. Committee Chair: Sheila Rucki

Membership Committee
The responsibility of the Membership Committee is to insure the growth and vitality of the organization by planning and recruiting new members. Membership committee actions are subject to approval by a majority of members present in any given meeting. Its decisions on major strategic issues are subject to approval by the Steering Committee. Any member is welcome to attend meetings and join the committee on request. Its purview includes:

  • Coordinating recruitment drives
  • Organizing outreach and recruitment events
  • Assisting with communications efforts
  • Incorporating new members into the union and increasing their involvement
  • Providing support to the Steering Committee

Committee Chair: Alex Boodrookas

Grievance Committee
The Grievance Committee works directly with members who request representation during conflicts with MSU Denver. The goal is to de-escalate grievances, protect academic freedom, and provide legal services in extreme circumstances. Read the complete guidelines for the MSFF grievance process. Committee Chair: Richard Wagner

Legislative Committee
The Legislative Committee works to inform members on legislative updates regarding collective bargaining, etc. This committee includes members from AFT Colorado and MSU lobbyists in support of bills which benefit our students.

Policy Committee
The Policy Committee reviews policies and practices within the division of academic affairs to seek alignment with established Policy Statements of the AAUP (American Association of University Professors). The committee also makes recommendations to the Faculty Senate Academic Policies Committee and to the Faculty Employment Handbook Committee.
